Like many, we’re struggling to find the right words to express what we’re feeling and how to move forward. In Long Beach, we’re experiencing continued peaceful protests over the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arberry, Breonna Taylor and every other extra-judicial killing of innocent Black Americans.
It is not the right moment to use our social media reach for self-promotion. It is also not the right moment to be silent while our city, county, and nation are in profound pain and unrest. We’ve always valued transparency, authenticity, and responsibility in our personal and professional lives—it’s one of the meaningful ways small business can hopefully help create pressure for larger corporations to follow suit.
In addition to our personal efforts to take action socially, politically and financially, we will contribute 4% of profits indefinitely to organizations working to create real change at the local, state and federal levels to fight systemic racism and injustice.
